Kitsuné Compilation 11: The Indie-Dance Issue.
"We're perceived as a club label when really we've always been between 'club' and 'indie', and this new compilation sits right at the crossroad of the two."

The track list is as follows (I've even added some downloadable links):
01. Let's Go All The Way by - (They're so cool they don't even have a name!)
02. Phantastic Phone Call by Alexander Dexter Jones
03. Roman by Housse De Racket
04. Sunshine Eyes by Polarsets
05. Miami Spider (Ponciau Edit) by Gallops
06. Say What You Want by Cosmonaut
07. Days by Creep [ft. Romy (the xx)]
08. The Greeks by Is Tropical
09. Twist by Peter & The Magician
10. Sermon by The Touch
11. Luvsik by Logo x Icona Pop
12. Silver Screen by Beat Connection
13. Pyramid by Nightbox
14. Resolution Of One by Guards
15. Big Things by Fiction
16. Conte d'Eté by Exotica

My favourite track has to be Days by Creep featuring Romy from the xx with a cool video to boot.

Kitsuné Compilation 11 is hitting the shops on May 16th 2011.

i heart Summer

Swirling vocals and hollow beats make me '<3' 'Summer'. All of which is accomplished by 17 year old Irish producer Jack Colleran (MOTHS).

Download 'Summer' and '<3'.

hey, hey, maybe we're on a roll.

i haven't given you any photography in a long time.

Relocate

I've got some more hazy 80s disco sounding music for you, this time, in the form of Kauf's (Ronald Kaufman) debut single, 'Relocate'. According to various sources synthy L.A. based Kauf is working on his first EP and if keeps the vibe of 'Relocate' he's going to be a massive hit (with me at least)!

The Luyas

Montreal band 'The Luyas' are probably pretty tired after playing seven gigs at the SXSW festival last week. I really like this band, so much so that I'm going to post two of their songs: 'Too Beautiful To Work' from their new album (released Feb 2011) and 'Dumb Blood'.

Spring is truly upon us. halleLUYAS all round!

The Joy Formidable

I'm probably a bit late in finding out about The Joy Formidable, but like they say - better late than never! Their first full length studio album (The Big Roar) came out in January and it's pretty good. Re-releases like 'whirring' have a real child-like innocence to them and in 'some' ways it's quite refreshing. Their music is like the indie-pop-rock of the 90s, so if you want to relive your younger years, give them a go!

Toro y Moi

Chaz's (Toro y Moi) new album came out a few weeks ago. It's hazed (slightly 'lo-fi') jazzy sounding 70s disco or if you prefer made-up new age genres then it's "chillwave". The production of the music video is pure brilliance, in that, it completely encompasses the eclectic spaciness of all the elements within the song.

I really can't help but smile.

Friend Crush

Friends, a 5-month old brooklyn quintet, recently signed to lucky number - the same label as Darwin Deez. On vocals is Samantha Urbani who just wants to be your friend, and after listening to 'Friends Crush' you'd be silly to refuse! Look out for their album at the end of the year.

A wise man once said something along the lines that videos like these rose-tint our own memories, thinking that what we see is part of our own childhood.

suspend your disbelief and imagine:
the knife's and fever ray's ambient electronica and theatrical vocals. now, take away some of the minimalistic techno beats and add some gothic eurovision trance.

we now have stockholm's and moshi moshi records' niki and the dove. sweden is truly a strange place... a place where music has no limits.

experimental music? how can anything be experimental when no boundaries exist?

"It can make you creatively lazy if you think of yourself as an Icelandic musician," she says. "Björk and Sigur Rós have gone through years of hard work to find their style, and then the first thing they get asked is: 'Is this typical Icelandic music?' There is no such thing as typical Icelandic music, because we have no folk tradition due to our history being so short. But it's easy to use an Icelandic aesthetic to your advantage, which a lot of people do. My songs are about the kind of human connections we all have, not culture and geography. I don't want geysers in my videos."

Extracted from an interview she did with The Guardian back in September.
