cut copy are taking over...

cut copy released their third album, zonoscope, earlier this month, on modular recordings. the most interesting track, for me, not solely due to its popularity, is 'take me over'. quite simply, it sounds like a rub together of fleetwood mac's 'everywhere' and men at work's 'land down under' (with a modern synth-pop polished finish). 'take me over' has a genuine 80s dancey feel to it, so let the synthy waves crash against your skin and the sandy vocals get between your toes... you are on a beach.

danish ballerina made musician, nanna øland fabricius, is oh land. daughter of an opera singer and organist, music was always going to be her ultimate vice. her synthesised electronic-pop is an effortless amalgamation of distinct musical elements.

visions of trees are a mesmeric london based duo. fusing electronic music with dulcet (synthesised rnb-esque) tones. their track coffinblood is an apparition in itself, allow it to manifest, take form and have a sultry dance with your ears!

U.S. Royalty insist they're not just a flash in the pan and I hope they're not, they have that infectious East-Coast energy which pleases to the bone.

However, I favour Flosstradamus' remix of their new single, because sometimes I like songs to get some electro injected...

Animal Kingdom -

an Aussie film starring Guy Pearce and the OSCAR-nominated Jacki Weaver, ANIMAL KINGDOM has brooding and intense qualities. The basic storyline is that, following the death of his mother, a young ‘J’ Cody goes to live with his estranged gangster relatives. With conflict escalating between his family of criminals and the police’s armed robbery division, J finds himself at the centre of a cold-blooded vengeance plot. He proceeds to naively navigate his way through the criminal underworld, forced to question where his loyalties lie as he tries to decipher who he can trust and who can protect him as he struggles for his own survival. The film won the much-coveted Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
